Extended service life in brickworks

These companies are usually located where the raw material deposits occur. In the past, these were usually small businesses which predried the wet bricks in the open air in the sun and fired them in an oven afterwards.

The clay is usually extracted by opencast mining. It cannot be shaped in its raw condition, so it is crushed and mixed in stages using wet or dry treatment. Malleable blocks are then moulded into bricks, wirecut roof tiles, and cavity blocks, or moulded using extruders. Dry-pressed tiles are moulded from preformed blanks on revolver presses.

Clinker and floor slabs are manufactured by the dry pressing process. In this, moisture is removed by drying systems heated with warm air. The blanks are placed on carriages and fired (sintered) in tunnel furnaces at temperatures of around 1000 °C to 1300 °C. The treatment is precisely aligned to the weight of the blank.

Process plant in brickworks is subject to substantial wear.

We make a thorough analysis of your wear problem, prepare a verified diagnosis and develop proposals for improving the parts which are subject to wear. We then work with you to select the VAUTID material which will best ensure these parts have an extended service life, from significantly increased resistance to wear, corrosion or heat. Everything is focussed on reducing your wear costs.
